Help · Reading the Deal Desk

Two dates on every change

A change can carry two dates:

  • When it happened, where the data source says: the date a home was registered, say, or the date a service changed provider.
  • When we detected it: the day it first appeared in the data source’s files.

They differ because the data sources publish after the event, sometimes weeks after. Some changes have no date of their own at all: a new registered manager appears in the data source without the date they started.

On the screen

On the Feed, hover over a date: it reads “Happened 1 Sep; we detected it 11 Oct”, or “Detected 15 Oct: the data source does not say when this changed”. In the signal panel a change without its own date is shown as “detected 17 Sep”.

Which date counts

The Feed lists changes newest detected first. The Ranked tab’s window counts from when a change happened. Since you last signed in and the daily priority alert go by when we recorded it, so a change published late still reaches you as new.
